Since its arrival at the station in early December, Volunteer's have been equipping, conducting training and preparing the new engine-tanker for service. This unit is a 2024 Spartan 6 person cab with a Custom Fire body. It carries 2,000 gallons of water and has a 1,500 GPM Hale fire pump. It also features a 3,000 gallon portable tank, rear and side dumps and various tools and equipment. Engine-Tanker 54 will primarily run behind Engine 52 on structure fires in the first due area. Along with Tanker 5, we are able to have 5,750 gallons of water on scene of these incidents just from our station which is vital in our rural setting. Along with this new apparatus we have also began the process to switch our front line apparatus to 4" supply hose. Our officers and members have been studying and exploring this option for numerous years. Following our own recommendations in an after action report from a fire involving a mayday in early 2024 it solidified this change. All apparatus in the station with the exception of Water Supply 5 will run 4" supply hose. We are excited to have this piece of apparatus put to use and it will serve the citizens of the community well for many years to come. |
