On Monday at 2214 hours, Stations 5 and 1 were alerted to a large brush fire on Abell Road. Multiple units responded and upon arrival located a large fire in the woods behind the dispatched address. Once crews were able to get an assessment on the fire, it was determined approximately 5 acres was burning in the heavily wooded area.

Chief 5 established the command and requested the Brush Fire Task Force along with an additional tanker and an UTV. An adjoining property owner was able to use equipment to create a path for brush units to get into the woods. Foresty was requested along with their dozer.

During the incident Command requested Trooper 7 to conduct a flyover of the area to confirm the size of the fire. Trooper 7 was able to provide information about the located and that the units had the fire surrounded.

The fire was divided into two divisions, Abell Road Divison and Hatchet Thicket Divison. Chief 5B, Captain 5 and Chief 1A operated as the division supervisors. Multiple crews worked for over two hours extinguishing the fire until the arrival of the Forestry Dozer to cut a fire line surrounding the incident.
