August 29, 2024

On Thursday afternoon at 1221 hours, our station and surrounding companies were alerted to a reported house fire on Bayview Road in Colton's Point. As units were responding, communications advised callers reported fire on the second floor of the home. Engine 52 reported a column of smoke in the area and requested the working fire task force be added. Engine 52 laid a supply line from the corner of Bay View Road and Point Breeze Road. Upon arrival, Engine 52 located a two story home with fire showing from division two.

Engine 52 pulled an attack line to the charlie side of the home knocking the fire on the second floor porch before advancing to division two. Tanker 5 arrived picking up Engine 52's line. Engine/Tanker 51 with Chief 5B arrived next with the crew pulling an additional line to division two. Chief 5B established the Colton's Point Command.

Engine 23 pulled a draft from the Potomac River and supplied the fire ground. Truck 1 made their way to the delta side of the structure and assumed the first due truck responsibilities. Crews knocked all visible fire within 12 minutes of arrival. All additional units reported to the scene and assisted with overhaul and opening up the house.

Units operated for another 45 minutes conducing overhaul and hitting hot spots on division two. The occupant was home at the time of the fire and the cause was accidental. There were no reported injuries at the scene and units operated for just over three hours before returning to quarters. We would like to thank the fill in crew that responded to the station during the incident.
